What does it took like when you are preparing to leave the country for a year? Let me give you a glimpse of my last week.
This week I:
Said goodbye to all my family and friends.
Goodbyes are always hard for me, I never want to say goodbye, and when I finally do I don't know if I am supposed to cry, or be strong, laugh or Pull a Rachel and pull everyone aside and have the most personal emotional goodbyes in the world (yes that is a friends reference haha)
Along with the last couple of impromptu hang out sessions my mom came down and spent a couple days helping me pack and loving on me. I had a goodbye dinner at old chicago's (which I didn't think to show up early for to make the reservations for the party of 20, so we had to wait over an hour for a table haha my procrastination pays off once again!) and i was prayed over at my church, giving me the opportunity to say goodbye to all the amazing people who have supported me over the last year.
Moved out of my apartment
I like to procrastinate. Maybe not "like" to as much as just "do". I had to be out of my apartment by the first of July, and I didn't begin packing until about Thursday. Luckily for me when my mom came down on Saturday and saw my pathetic three packed boxes she kicked my butt into gear, sending me into flashbacks of my childhood as she made me clean my room!
In case you are wondering it IS possible to move an entire apartment in three days!
Quit my job
After working at the cracker barrel for almost three years I finally said goodbye. Walking away from cracker barrel was actually one of the more difficult things I did this week. All my friends work there and I have so many amazing memories form the years I spent there.
Bought an I pad!!
I had an amazing friend donate the 300 dollars I needed to purchase an I pad, and I am currently writing this blog on my new I pad on the airplane as I fly to launch in DC!
Gave up my car
My mom took my car back to Wyoming with her when she returned. I drove a car for the last time in who knows when. I hope I still remember how to drive when I get home!
Enjoyed the last of my favorite foods.
This last week I went to as many of my favorite restaurants as possible! I stuffed my face full of steak, burgers, Mexican food and Italian food all week! I give it three days in India before I start missing American food. Haha
Completed my todo list
The night before my last day in Colorado I wrote up a todo list of all the things I had to get done my last day here. This list consisted of calling all my banks, changing my mailing address, shutting off my phone, copying all my important documents and packaging (yes, I waited till the night before to pack… And it took me about 4 hours to pack haha) I had a list of 37 things to get done yesterday, and… I did it all! 🙂
After my crazy week of change and preparation I have to sit back, and think this is just the BEGINNING!
I arrive in DC today at three for launch. Let The World Race begin!
