I bet you are all wondering what it is that I do every day, so here is what ministry has looked for me in Nepal so far this month:

Beautiful Nepal. Love love love love love.
6:30 am – Alarm that I set on my watch goes off, and I once again sleep through it.
6:45 am – Drew comes and knocks on our bedroom door telling us that we are meeting in 15 minutes
6:55 am – I slowly roll off my sleeping pad, and try and decide if the clothes I still have on from yesterday still smell clean enough to wear for one more day. The clothes I am wearing now are on day four I believe.
7:10 am – I head into the living room, reassured that I am not the only one late for morning devotional.
7:15 am – morning devotional with our team. We talk about a specific verse that has stuck out to us, or something that has been on our hearts recently. Usually during devotional the family that we are staying with brings us breakfast; typically a hard boiled egg and banana, or a doughnut thing and a banana, and a cup of chi.
8:30 am – We get a couple hours to “relax” and have “quiet time”. The reason for the parentheses is because when you are trying to have quiet time you get a huge group of kids who just love to sit down next to you while you are writing in your journal, and read what you are writing out loud while you are writing it. There might also be something that the people we are living with want us to do during this time, like rebuild the well, pull weeds from around the house, or visit a family you ministered to the day before.
11:00 am – we have lunch which was prepared by the family. It is rice and doaal

our nummy lunch 🙂
12:00 pm – we begin our day of ministry. Our group breaks up into three smaller groups, and we all go out into the village that we are staying in with one of the pastors or semi English speakers that are staying with us.
We then spend the next five hours going from house to house spreading the gospel. We have it down to an art form by now, where one of us will give a short explanation of Who Jesus is, and why he died for us, and then the other person will give a short version of their testimony. Then we will switch off so at the next house the one who gave their testimony will now explain the gospel and the one who talked about jesus will now share about their lives.
It is interesting working with the different pastors, because they have us do different amounts of work. One of the pastors, Pastor yam will look at us, and say “share something” and then as soon as we are done he will go on and on in Nepalese (which they actually call Nepalee here) for like 20 minutes and then be like “ok, let’s go” and then not tell us what he said, or if the people were receptive of what we said or anything. Whereas if you were with David, you will first make small talk with the people, and then share, and then ask them questions to see how they felt about what we said. David never said much to the people, it was all on us.
5:00 pm – we would get back from ministry, and spend about an hour resting.
6:00 pm – we head out to a different village to show a film about Jesus. We walk there (last time it was about a 45 minute walk) and they set up a projector, and one of us gets up and shares our testimony to all the people huddle around the side of the building that we are showing the video on. Then we try and stay awake and look interested as we watch an hour and a half long video not in our language about Jesus. After words we pass out tracks, and pray over anyone that needs prayer. Unlike in India, we don’t have tons of people surrounding us looking for prayer; there is typically only a couple.
10:00 pm – we get back home and have dinner (same as lunch) and then have feedback as a team, in which we are all so super tired that half the people find it hard to say anything.
12:00 am – we usually got to bed around this time, just to get up bright and early and do it all over again!
Keep in mind that we are moving to four different locations this month, and this is only the schedule for one of those locations.
