Good evening fellow blog followers and gracious supporters of my baby sister!  Yea, that’s right – this isn’t Deborah, coming at you from Honduras.  Well maybe it is, just in a less-than-orthodox manner.  Guess I’m her ghost writer today…only I’m no longer a ghost – oops!

Anyway, Deborah asked me to drop you all a brief update.  I was really looking forward to hacking her blog and posting about her when she least suspected.  Not really as much fun when I have her permission.

I had the pleasure to actually see and speak to her this afternoon – thank you Jesus for the technology of Apple and FaceTime.  She was at a Wendy’s (like the American franchise?!?) with a gaggle of follower racers all frantically fighting for internet connection.  She would exclaim every time another racer walked in the door because it was one more person soon-to-be vying for precious wi-fi connection.

While we chatted, she sent a team mate to buy her 21 Limpira (Honduran currency?) chicken nuggets as a token of her appreciation to Wendy’s for the wi-fi.  Then she would turn to her iPad with an “Oh crap, she’s gone again” as she received a “poor connection” indication – the funny part is that most of the time, I could see and hear everything she was doing!  We talked about her week, she asked about mine (even 6 and a half months pregnant and working 100 hours per week, it seems mundane in comparison).

I can say with great certainty that she looked great – she has faced her share of challenges this week, that’s for sure, and she is eager to share them with you so I won’t spoil the fun for her, but her connection was so shaky, she had to prioritize her precious internet seconds and I’m flattered she spent most of them on the phone with me.  Once we got our “new-to-the-21st-century” dad in the loop, he was able to Skype with her with a very fuzzy picture for a few brief moments.  Then she hung up and I had a training session with Dad on the merits of FaceTime – for later this week.

As most of you noticed with the email alerts, she was able during the middle of the week to snag an internet card and post the title to a blog…just the title.  She said she would get either the title and save button, OR the text button for content, but never both…so she had to give up.  And that was the least challenging thing she faced this week…

Sounds like a few days from now they are debriefing in Antigua for five days and they have been promised a reliable connection for the entire visit there (gotta be honest, sounds like the stuff of vacation to me – jk!), and then they are on to their next destination – hard to believe round 1 is almost done already!  During this time, she promises she has a bunch of blogs all written and ready for release to the press – maybe including the title teaser we saw this week.  She will post some pictures though she admits she’s not been the best photographer – she has other teammates that have been better, so she recommends we all “creep on them” (her words exactly).  For those of you who have connected with her on Facebook, I do my best to tag her in the photos as I see them come across.

So for those of us left here in the boring US of A to open their mail, check to make sure they don’t overdraw the bank account, and file their tax returns, keep on supporting – they are doing great and hardly even thinking about all these normal things in life.  And keep praying hard for them as they face the challenges of being humans (namely Americans with low immunity) in foreign countries spreading the news of our Savior to those who so desperately deserve to hear it; that alone would be a challenge without ear infections, runny noses, and new onset sciatica (oooo..spoiler alert).

And for all the worried (or “not-worried”, read: in worry denial) parents out there – I don’t know the names, though I do recognize some faces from other photos – but all the racers looked well and were doing their absolute best to get in touch with all of you for a brief hello as well.  I know the C-Squad parents were promised internet connections every weekend, but maybe we’re a little spoiled here in the States about what a wi-fi connection REALLY means – but I can tell that they are having the time of their lives – while I’m sure they miss us, they are so busy and distracted that sometimes they may take for granted that we wait around to hear from them!  Relax…God is blessing all of your boys and girls!  If you didn’t hear from your racer, know that they are there, and safe, and well-fed by American franchise food this evening.

We love our racers…”Therefore, go…”

Later!

Tabitha
