A lot has happened since the beginning of the month. The team is now relocated to a hostel in the city. We have to walk to ministry like 30 minutes each way and we have to navigate through questionable waters by means of a hop, a skip and a jump. And we thought we would never use those training camp exercises in life!
One of the more freeing things this month has been the addition of bicycles. We cut our way across the beach front whizzing to ministry on bikes. I love it. It is a great way to stay cool, while getting there takes half the time. The mormons are onto something.
Anyway, we are working with children and adults in the area. Most of our days have been prayer walking through the town of San Mateo and getting to know the local people and their needs. Kids have been coming to our Good News Club. Some of the kids know about the stories we share, but for the others, it is all new. Different ones have come on different days. I really enjoy teaching about God.
The ministry hosts, Laverne and Robert are the salt of the Earth. They have eight kids, but there is always room in their hearts and their home for more people. We have been totally blessed by their kindness and generosity. They seek the Lord with all of their heart and it shows. They started out with very little, but they had love. Their testimonies alone are powerful, but the way that they live out their faith is amazing. God is in their work and in their life and I am blessed to serve with them.
Belize is beautiful. And, yes, I am getting a tan. There are palm trees everywhere and interesting birds and fish of all kinds. There is also a lot of tourism and even moreso, poverty. The people in this town are fighting depression and worthlessness. They don’t realize how precious they are. God created each one of them. I am hoping that in the realest way possible that God uses His presence here to shine light and hope into the people that I pass every day.
The other day, I was reading a bit of Revelation 21. And it goes like this:
3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.”

So, please be in prayer for Belize. Pray that God is casting down strongholds in people’s lives. Pray that sins are washed away more than the roads. Pray that those who are seeking rest find it. Pray that those who are lonely find the friend that sticks closer than a brother. Pray that those who are hungry are filled. Pray for identity to be from God and not from life’s circumstances. Pray for healing; For forgiveness; For honest work; For love to abound and for those who labor to see the fullness of God in the land of the living.
