17 days to get ready……
The number one question I get asked as I prepared to leave on the race is usually some variation of the below sentences.
“Are you ready? ”
“You got everything ready?”
“Ready to go?”
“Ready to launch?”
“How many days til you’re ready?”
You will notice that all five sentences have one word in common…. READY. Everyone wants to know if I’m ready, and quite frankly, I am wondering that of myself as well. let me answer that question in one simple word…
No….
I am not ready.
However, I am more then a little convinced, if I was given 15 years and a play by play of every minute of the next 11 months with a guarantee that everything would go EXACTLY how it was planned included with a practice run I am convinced I still wouldn’t be “ready”.
So you imagine how I feel without all those things, because you see, moment of vulnerability here- I really would like to have all those things like a lot, part of my personality really struggles with well, for lack of better words..WANTING TO CONTROL EVERYTHING!!!
which is great with the Worldrace, because nothing is concrete, its all flybytheseatofyourpants, the canceled flights the country switches, the team changes, whats for dinner and on it goes! its all just a small part of it, and I can’t wait to just not be as uptight as I am now.
I’ve rabbit trailed..normal.
Anyways, the point I am trying to make is no, I am not ready. But I’m willing, and excited, and determined.
And thats more important right?
