As I type these words, I am sitting in a plastic chair on top of a beautiful mountain in Malaysia. It’s such a stunning feeling being right where God wants you to be. How did I end up here? Well, let me take you on a little journey.

Before we began this month, our fearless leader, Ralph, was told to ask God for words and visions of where we should serve in Malaysia. He had a vision of a little house on a mountain surrounded by a forest. God told him that we would go here and pray. God said that as we stayed in this place, we would see the real hearts and needs of these people.

We began in Kuala Lumpur, the capital, and got connected with an awesome church called Kingdom City. We joined a group of theirs for street ministry the next night and saw God show up in powerful ways. I mean powerful –there were multiple healings, a salvation, many encouraged, and a lot of people really tickled that these young people were spending their night talking about Jesus. After we finished ministry, the group prayed over us and told us that God was going before us into our new location. We met a girl named Radiance who gave us a few phone numbers of places we could contact to go serve with.

We prayed over the information and asked God to lead us where He wanted us. AIM assigned us to the providence of Penang, so we rented a house there and lived in a strait-up Muslim community for 10 days. First off, we wanted to stay there for 4 days and then see where God was leading us, but the Wi-Fi glitched as I was reserving the home online and I accidentally got it for 9 nights. Whoops. Well, God got his point across…He wanted us there a little longer than what we had planned.

Now I thought that I was stared at bad in Africa…well this small town community was on a whole different level. Most of these people had never seen white people before, much less 6 of them walking to and fro throughout the town trying to find their way. We did a lot of prayer walks throughout the neighborhood; we prayed outside their mosque, in their market, in their streets. Everywhere we stepped foot, we prayed that the kingdom of God would come and touch these people (Josh. 1:3). Every once in a while, someone would stop and talk with us because it was clear we weren’t from around there. People would stop us before getting onto the bus because they thought we were lost and taking the wrong line. It was always hilarious to see their reaction when we told them we were living in the community.

As our time was winding down in Kuantan, we began calling the leads we got from Radiance. Pastor Phillip was one of those people. He runs a “prayer mountain” (it’s really more like a holy hill) based off of Isaiah 56:7- “The Lord says, ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.’” He told us we were more than welcome to come and pray and work with the indigenous people. After hearing Ralph’s vision for the month, we all knew this was exactly where God wanted us.

As I sit here, I can feel a cool breeze, hear the birds chirping, and am surrounded by the presence of the Lord. It’s incredible how God led us so clearly this month to this very place for such a time as this. God knew that we needed to disconnect from the chaos of life and be alone with Him again. Sitting on this mountaintop I can feel His peace, His love, and so much clarity for what God desires. Every morning, we rise at 6:45, climb the mountain, and pray. Everyday we pray for 2 countries in Europe, 1 in Asia, and 1 in the Middle East. Throughout our manual labor during the day, there is always a watchman praying on top of this mountain. That’s what I’m doing right now 🙂

On Monday, January 18th, we are beginning 3 days of prayer and fasting for the nations. Monday we will pray for Europe. Tuesday we will pray for the America’s (North and South). Wednesday we will pray for Asia. Some Christians are taught from a young age to pray for the nations, but I never was. If a nation was in crisis or war, then I would pray, but rarely would I ever pray for a country by name asking God for a spiritual revival. I welcome you to join us as we pray. God has so much in store for the people of the world and we can take a part in that through prayer. There’s so much power in that!
