Back in the old days a man would propose to his lady by taking her out to dinner then offering her a sip from a glass of wine and if she said “yes!” to his proposal she would take a sip from the glass of wine. After she accepted the proposal her man would go off and prepare a place for them to live after they were to be married. In order for their home to be perfect her man was gone for a long period of time, but when he was gone he told his best man to stay with his lady to look after her and to comfort her. The best man would stay with the lady until her man would return to take her to their perfect home he had prepared for her.

pretty cute huh?

The funny thing about this proposal story is that it is your proposal story and my proposal story.

God is a quite romantic.

Lets think about the concept of communion for a second.

Jesus broke bread and said “Take, eat; this is my body”

here is the kicker…

Then Jesus took a cup of wine, thanked God, then offered it to the disciples saying

“Drink this, all of you. This is my blood..”

The Last Supper=Jesus’s Proposal to Us

Every time we take communion we are accepting Jesus’s proposal.

Over the past couple of months friends of mine have recently gotten engaged and I have never seen them SO giddy and I guarantee if a random person even made eye contact with them while they were walking down the street they would give them a huge hug telling them that they are engaged! Being engaged is a beautiful thing full of whimsy and love.

Now going back to the old days….. the best man that stayed with the lady while her man prepared a place for her plays a huge role in this tradition.

The Best Man=The Holy Spirit

muyyyyyyyy intersante! aka HOW FLIPPIN COOL

Jesus proposed to us at the last supper then went to prepare a place for us and while he is busy preparing the heavens for us #casual he left his best man to consume our thoughts, actions, and to comfort us while our future hubby is away.

Ya know I have heard a lot of proposal stories and  have watched a bagillion of extravagant youtube proposals, but I think this story might be my favorite proposal story.
