Hi! My name is Dax and I’m 25 years old! I’m a middle child and have two older brothers and one younger sister. My father passed away when I was two years old so it has been my mom and us kids ever since. I was born in Florida though I don’t remember any of it. I have been all up the east coast lived in New York for two years when I was about 5?? Family came down to Savannah, GA and I have been here ever since, so I call this home! ๐ At age 10 I started going to my home church where I still attend and began to follow Christ which has been the most challenging and greatest thing that has ever happened to me. I “rebelled” a bit in middle school and half way through high school smoking weed and doing other drugs but God helped me out of it and I had a huge turn around. Since then God has ironically given me a thirst for knowledge and reading (I hated school and learning when I was in High school!). I went for two years at at local university not sure what to pursue, and spent one semester at a bible collage in North Carolina to study religious studies and Christian Apologetics! Afterwards I returned home and the doors for me to go back to Bible College closed…
I have since spent another year at AASU pursueing a degree in I-Tech. Once I return from The World Race though I plan to transfer to Full Sail University and change my major for the third time lol! Hey its narrowing down ๐
The World Race:
Three years ago I ran across a book called “The Only Road North” about a group of young men that traveled from South Africa to Eqypt on dirt bikes and helping Missionaries along the way. This birthed in me a desire to travel to other countries for a year on a set route to help missionaries serve the people around them. After struggling and praying for three years as to whether this was from God I finally decided in February of this year that I would pursue it. I started mapping out a route but two weeks after this decision I ran across The World Race!
Originally I was going to join the September route with two friends but felt that God was telling me not to go… To be honest this was hard for me but I have since seen confirmation that I shouldnt have gone. So here I am getting ready for Jan 2011 route 2!
About Me:
I seem to be a Jack of many trades and a master of none (atleast not yet :P). I have an interest in many subjects and activities. I usually spend my time reading (though I havent had time since I joined the world race lol), I have an interest in christian apologetics, world religions, kayaking… Im currently taking Commando Krav Maga lessons which God has used to teach me ALOT spiritually! I love to help out with my youth group Distinguished (I love y’all!) and I love hanging out with friends. I’m fairly easy going, chill, calm though I have been told that I have a trendency to be hard on myself ๐
