From the time we left Costa Rica on December 31st to right now has felt like a dream…yet here I am in Malaybalay, Philippines and God is bringing me back to His reality.
Let me start with one word…CHANGES. For one thing going from Central America to the Philippines is quite a huge change. The culture here is so different…actually everything about this place is different but I am already enjoying my time here so much. Another big change that has happened is…team changes. Although it was difficult at first I am excited to see how God uses my new team–RUSH to challenge me and help me grow.
Ministry this month is CRAZY. There are 5 teams (about 33 people) living in one, dorm style home…needless to say this month will be full of life. One of our primary ministries are working at the Orphanage–doing tutoring, helping the kids get ready for school, working in the nursery….pouring out love and attention to these beautiful children. The other one is planting a soccer field…which I can describe for you in two words…HARD WORK (but SO much fun :). We will be digging 14,000 holes then filling them with 2-3 inch pieces of sod-which is harvested from the side of a mountain…it is going to be good. There are other ministries that we could get involved with this month as well-prison ministry, gang ministry, street kid ministry…you name it and we could probably do it. I am really excited about all the opportunities God is giving us this month to bring His kingdom…with all the options at my finger tips one thing I am trying to focus on this month is listening to God’s voice and having Him lead me to the ministries He wants me to go to.
With all of the changes that have taken place in the past week it is difficult not to focus on the way I would have planned things for this month but I am trying to focus on God’s reality for my life…knowing that His reality is the ONLY one I want and it is better than anything I could have come up with on my own.
