I just want to take this time to ask for prayer for the country of Panama. Last night during a church service it was brought to our attention that the more southern parts of Panama are enduring serious mudslides and flooding due to the rainy season. People are dying and whole villages are being swept away by these natural disasters.
Our first reaction was to pack up our bags, prepare to live in our tents for the rest of the month and go help these people that so desperately need it. But after speaking to our contact here in Guabito that doesn´t really seem like it can be in option at this point for a whole host of reasons–it would take about 18 hours to get there by bus, it would be dangerous, we don´t have any contacts there…etc. Still many of the members of my team (myself included) feel that God wants us to do something in this situation. We aren´t sure what that looks like at all but one thing I know is PRAYER IS POWERFUL. The people of Panama need a miracle and our God is a God of miracles and there is NOTHING He cannot do. Lets lift up this country together and pray relief, peace, comfort and blessing over it…because even if we can´t get to the people we know that God can.
God has just been continually showing me the heart He has for all the nations of the world. He has a heart for all nations therefore we should have a heart for all nations as well. Because of the heart God has for the nations…He sends His children out to be His mighty hands and feet. We are all annointed to spread the goodnews of Christ to anyone and everyone, our prayers are powerful because the Holy Spirit is inside of us…
Isaiah 61:1 says,
¨The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me because the Lord has annointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for prisioners.¨
This is something that God has given to us all but it is up to us to take action so please lift up the people of Panama this month in your prayers. God will hear them and He will answer.
