Life on the race is certainly a whirlwind. There is a schedule that can only be described as “tentative” and it has definitely been something to get used to. So much has happened since I have last written-we put on a show for Dia del Ninos (day of the children) where we danced and sang with the kids. We got a piñata for them, handed out juice and cookies too. We handed out clothes to people in one neighborhood and played with the kids. We went to church yesterday (Sunday) and all I can say about that is we all were spiritually filled and blessed.
Today we went to the bar district in Puerto Barrios. I must admit I was a little nervous but when we started to walk into the neighborhood I saw “Christo te ama” (God loves me) written on a wall and God’s peace instantaneously fell upon me. We walked up to one bar, laid our hands on it and began to pray–that God would realease the people that go there from the darkness and that His bright light would shine. That His love would over-flow in a place that appears so broken and that He would let His children know that He has not forgotten them.
After this people began to come out of their houses and invite us in to pray for their sick children…it was overwhelming but amazing all at the same time. We prayed healing for two sick boys–one with an extreme fever and another with bronchitis (Jose). We prayed healing for a man with a cane and back problems. We prayed for God’s blessing over a family of 5 with 3 young boys. God’s presence was so thick…and He answers the prayers of His children.
When we made our way back to the bar, this man named Albero came up to Addie, Michael, Greg and myself and asked us to pray for him–he was an alcoholic. As we began to pray for him this man fell to his knees like a childen and began to weep…and God broke my heart for this man, I could not help but weep along with him. With his hands on the wall of the bar the Holy Spirit fell upon him, restored him and reminded him that he is loved and not forgotten. After we prayed for him, he spoke to us in spanish for a long time, most of which we did not understand until he said “God told me He would send you here.”
As we were walking out of this neighborhood…I saw the children we prayed for running around and playing like children should be doing…Jesus brings light into the darkness…always…
Kingdom is coming
