Who would’ve thought that something unfinished, something that looks deserted, run down and weathered could be the spark of something so beautiful. Yet the only way for this hidden potential to be discovered is to have someone brave enough to explore it.
Im talking about an abandoned/unfinished project of a hotel in our host city in Transylvania, Romania. It stands 5 stories high and yet all it is is just the bones of a building. People decided for whatever reason that the cost of the project was just too high. The building on the outside looks like a disaster. Even the stairs up were a little sketchy, but once you make it to the top, it offered a view not often presented in this town. Its amazing how something so broken and unfinished can give people a different point of view and it just has to stand there and wait for someone to take that chance.
Looking at this from a Christian stand point, we’re the same way. People of this world look at us and say “There’s too much work to be done”. “I don’t have the time to invest in him/her”. “He/She has always been that way, there’s no fixing it”. All these things are lies that the world has both told us and continues to try to tell us. And yet when someone braves the heights and the lack of railings, they discover that the view, the perspective from the top of this building, is something that they cant get anywhere else. And all because I took the chance to go to the top.
I want to encourage all of you that if you see someone this week who looks like an unfinished project (thats everyone), and if they look broken down and just don’t look like they’re worth the investment, I encourage you to brave the journey to the top. Because if you brave the journey and invest even the slightest amount of effort and time into them they may give you something so revolutionary that it may change your life. If you introduce them to God then that will even improve their point of view.
There is no one too far gone and “beyond repair”. Look at those people as opportunities, not hinderances.
Grace & Peace
