It all started when I was a little kid. Growing up my mom always made me play with my friends who had the chicken pox so that I would get them when I was young. As a result, I never got them. Go figure. At around the age of 17 give or take I was asked if I wanted the booster for chicken pox while at the doctor. My mom said “He hasn’t gotten them yet and he’s been around them, I don’t think he’ll need them”.

Fast forward to last week. I got the chicken pox. The only catch was that I had to travel halfway across the world in order to get them. That being said there is good news here. I only got half the symptoms aka they never itched and they were only on my head and chest. Praise be to God for that little miracle. While I had chicken pox I wasn’t really able to leave and go out into public for almost a week. So the first chance I got a real chance to go do something I took it.

With that in mind, that first chance would be to hike all the way to a peak of a local mountain. Like father like son, I went and I made it to the top, chicken pox and all. About an hour into the 3-4 hour climb I realized that I probably shouldn’t have attempted this. But Im tired of not seeing things through in my life so I decided to keep pressing on. One step at a time. Once I made it to the summit I quickly realized that the hike and hardship was worth way more than what I had to sacrifice in order to see it.

This is the view from the highest point on the mountain that there is. It is impossible to see this view and not know that God is the only reason that it is possible. After making it up there with the chicken pox I learned that its not how hard of a climb that life is, its not about how pretty it looks. What life is about is about those times when you have set backs such as illness or what have you, and still having the motivation to keep moving. Have the motivation that no matter how hard it gets, God has already made the end and the view and the life for the end, way better than you can ever imagine. He has already made it worth the struggle to reach the top.

God is the only reason any of this is possible.
