A building is a symbol…symbols are given power by people. Alone, a symbol is meaningless, but with enough people….the idea can change the world.
This is true about todays church in America. It seems to be how the American “World” seems to treat it as well.
In my five months on the world race, I have realized how much bigger God’s church is than just those four walls I go and visit every Sunday in the states.
The church, dear friends, is the people.
Church is not a destination, its a population. It is one generation right after the other.
WE ARE THE CHURCH!!!
“We the people….” are the church. Its not a building. So when people say “I need to go to church.” Thats wrong, you just need to surround yourself with Godly people who want to share God’s love with you.
Why are we so caught up in “going to church?”
The devil has us tricked you know?! Yeah thats right, I said it. He has us tricked, even the “good and faithful” Christians into thinking that going to church is good enough to get by. But its not. Because our version of church isn’t what it is supposed to be. Church is the people. And not only is it the people. But it is our job as the believers to make that church (aka people or population of believers) grow. Not the pastor’s, ministers, preachers, whatever you want to call that position.
Their position is there to make sure that we are walking the right path and fighting the good fight. They are there to help guide you to Jesus on this earthly walk. Its our job to go find more people and share the love of God.
What is the purpose of a Shepard? The sole purpose of a Shepard is to guide the sheep along the right path. That is Jesus. Our pastor or preacher etc etc is our earthly Shepard, making sure that we follow Jesus.
What is the purpose of the sheep? To multiply. Which is what were called to do as believers. And that means more than making babies. Were supposed to go out into this world, take the light of Christ, and spread his love and therefore multiply.
So why isn’t that happening???
The devil has us tricked into thinking that staying in our four walls call “Church” is good enough to get the job done of getting us to heaven. That couldn’t be farther from the truth.
The devil has a hold on the world, and not because he is powerful and The Word isn’t. In fact, where we spread The Word we multiply. It is more powerful than any double edged sword. It cuts straight to the heart.
The devil has a hold on this world because we the “church” think were doing enough by hiring someone to give us sermons and blame them when the church doesn’t grow. When in all reality its our fault for no growth. No one else’s. So own up to it!! I am!
Now that you know you’re being tricked….What are you going to do about it???
