I finally decided to post more of an update blog on what life has been like here in Serbia. Let me start by first saying that we are truly blessed to be here in Somber. We have clean drinking water, showers, a kitchen, beds, A/C and fantastic people to share the Gospel with. We are staying in a cafe so we can have coffee (expresso) whenever, theres a ping pong table. We play cards and sports every day as our ministry. We are blessed!!

Adventure day (one of our days off when we explore the local culture) was awesome. We went swimming at the canal last Saturday. It was the equivalent of a fresh water pool. It was a concrete pool poured on the side of the canal where the water was allowed to flow under the walk way so as to keep it fresh and always filled. There was a diving board, a local Canal ferry type thing that can take you up and down stream. Imagine if you can lake water that forms a lazy river and a public pool. And presto thats where we were.

Now for the second adventure day, we went to “The Beach”, which was a beach on an inlet bordering the Danube River (the largest river in Europe). We stood on the shore and just across the river was Croatia. In the water by the beach however it was super nice. Soft sand, beach umbrellas, beach volleyball and an open hut where they sell drinks and ice cream. Needless to say I got some sun. Which afterwards I was informed by a local that I could put their yogurt on a sunburn and its the same as Aloe. Im not sure how healthy it can be if it cures sunburn but hey to each their own.

Now lets talk locally here in Somber. There are about 6-7 give or take different Ice Cream places within a 5 minute walk of each other. And I have had them all. Ritters is about the closest comparison back home, but even that isn’t as good as this stuff. Its what I call a dangerous food. Cheap and fattening. So me being me, I get it everyday haha you only live on Earth once right? When you see a groundhog, you just have to Gopher it!

But to make a short story as long as possible. I love it here!! I want to give out a huge shout out to Martinsville Church of Christ amongst everyone else who made this journey of a lifetime possible! If it weren’t for God working through you, I would not have the opportunity to share His love around the globe. So Havala! (Serbian for Thank You!)
