A quick update on life here on the race! We’ve spent month 1 traveling from Cusco Peru to our current home in Iquique Chile. It’s been incredible! I am so thankful for being able to walk with Jesus in this season. A few highlights from life over the past month:
Living unscripted is beautiful, but such a shift in how I’ve view life. My normally cautious and at time overly introverted self is being challenged to start conversations with strangers. Conversations I can’t rehearse, conversations that sometimes have to rely on my very broken Spanish to make any progress. The beauty of this is that I’ve learned how kind, open, and loving people can be when you simple seek to share God’s love and life with them.
We’ve had the opportunity to start conversations in markets, cafes, and hostels as we’ve traveled. It’s been interesting to slow down and simply share life with strangers. I’ve been particularly challenged to lay down having an agenda going into these conversations. As someone who likes orderly, neat, boxes that I can organize my life into, the whole idea of ministry is life, life is ministry has been challenging. It means that rather than having a script, end goal, or assignment that I’m trying to complete I’m instead just seeking to be present and available to the Holy Spirit. It’s a wonderful, adventurous, and, at times, intimidating life when you simply let the Holy Spirit lead. It means holding your hands open to whatever he wants to put in them. I’m still trying to figure it out, but its been pretty cool so far!
In addition to strangers I’ve so enjoyed getting to spend time with my squad. It’s been awesome to watch each other grow, wrestle, and discover as we walk out this Unscripted life! Right now our squad is split into two teams of 5 and we are having a blast in Chile!
From Iquique we will be heading to Calama, a town in the Atacama desert. We will be making our way to Santiago Chile by February 20th. After which we will be figuring out next steps for Chile and Argentina.
