When I was sitting down trying to think about what i was going to say, i was at a lose of words for descrtibing my experiance in Haiti. It is just so differant here, even crossing the border from the DR into Haiti you can see a differance in the landscape, going from the humid and green, to dry and brown. then as we were pushing through the rotating bar gates in line to get our passports stamped, threre was a kid getting beat right out side, and that type of violent non-welcoming feeling seems to be the norm, for the most part. Right after we arrived here in Gonaives, our missions contact for this month, Muala, told us that we would be going to a mountain villiage for 4 days and then we would come back and help out with his ministry. Once we were there we took a tour of the town just to see everything, and while walking the streets I would smile at the people as we walked by but would only get blank stares in return, and the same thing happens here in Gonaives. The people here just dont care about there city or country, and it drives me insane! I have to be honest and say that it has been hard for me to have a posative attitude in Haiti, because of the lack of care and the environment. I was pretty much at the point of asking God why he would bring us to a place where the people are not receptive. However the Lord has convicted me on my negative attitude, when Maula took us to a farm that he had purchased to build a place where the christians could come and reacharge in their relationship with God before going back to do ministry. The spirit of the Lord was in this place, and I realized that God had not given up on haiti. Even though the people didnt care, God was still providing for them, and the dream that Muala has for this community can change the direction this country is going. God truly is in control!
