1 in 2 people in swaziland have HIV/ AIDS.
Swaziland if death rate continues will no longer be a country some time between 2030-2050.
Stats, are easy to come by and even eaisier to forget, but when the reality of the Statistic is made aware by putting a face to the stat, it is a powerfully effective thing. This was very thing that I learned fist hand our first day of ministy here in Swaziland. Pastor Gift told us that he wanted to take us to do a “home visit”, which I expected to be like the home visits we did in Malawi (Go to a village home, and help out in any way we they wanted). However, once we arrived I realized very quickly that it would be nothing alike. We had come to a shack to visit a 19 yr old girl who has AIDS, she was raped by her uncle and brother when she was 15 and that is how she contacated the virus. Since then it has taken over her body, and now her days are spent laying on her back unable to turn, just waisting away. She is in the final stages of the virus and isn’t expected to live through the year. Because of her low immune system she has contracted some type of skin disease, which has taken over her whole body. We watched as Pastor G. pulled back the blanket she had on, unvailing her sad state of a human body. She laid there bare for all to see, her skin is covered in sores, and is literally falling off of her bones. She is just waiting to die, and her family has to watch the process, while trying take care of her. She is the middle child of 15 other siblings and only 7 of them are still alive. There is a definatle feeling and spirit of Hopelessness over this country and these people. Pleas join with us as we pray for this generation of young people wake up and learn from their parents mistakes, to be disturbed by the current condition of their nation, and to do somthing about it. I appreciate your prayers.
