So this month my team is
getting a crash course on community living. We are living 7 people in
one room in a guest house. Our room is about the size of a normal
Motel room, with 3 beds, air conditioning (praise the Lord! and week
keep it at ice box temperatures in there at night), a 12″ tv
with all the Thai soap opera channels anyone could ever want, and one
bathroom. It is kinda a tight fit, with our 7 adult size bodies and
our 7 child size packs, so getting arranged that first night was
literally like putting a puzzle together. We are arranged like
follows: Kim, Anna, and Hanna are rotating 2 on a bed and one on the
floor in between two of the three beds, Noah and Cathy occupy the bed
next to theirs and Robyn claims the bed next to the door ( because
she is a light sleeper and the bed is pretty dang hard), and I take
the space on the floor at the foot of Robyn’s bed. I have learned a
few things this month that I thought I knew but realized I needed a
little refresher. 1. that you should always double check what you
think you have packed…. You see I unpacked some of my stuff and
left it at the Bangkok YWAM base before manistry, and I forgot to get
them back, before coming here. I left my sleeping bag, and pillow,
Both are very important for sleeping on the cold floor. We got it
worked out, but it was a interesting first couple nights. 2. Public
bathrooms outside of your “house” are a necessity. 3. when
living in tiny quarters, you have to fight for personal alone time,
because otherwise it just won’t happen. 4. If you have a problem with
someone hiding or avoiding them is just not the same.
