For the last 5 weeks I've been unable to be my physically active self due to a back injury. Tonight while on a power walk (wide brim senior style) I saw various obstacles I would normally jump over or on top of, but sadly I was unable to do so. This hasn't been the first occurrence of these feelings of inability in the past 5 weeks, but tonight I had a little break thru…

While I've thanked God often for the various things I normally do: bike riding, hiking, running, jumping, and hitting the gym…it hasn't been until now that I TRULY realize how thankful I am to be able to do those things because now I CAN'T do them!

With this in mind, I've been able to give thanks for the things I can do now with a new level of sincerity.

Such as: reaching into a pile of mini marshmallows and picking up a single one with precision hand eye coordination, placing it into my mouth with no delay, feeling the texture as saliva breaks down the sugar, tasting the sweetness with my tongue, teeth to grind it up so it will slide down my gullet into my stomach for digestion, and you know what comes next!

Sounds simple enough, but every little thing we humanoids are able to do is pretty amazing. The eye ball blows me away. How can my eye balls see all the colors and shapes? Then, my brain tells me what I'm seeing faster than I can even reason it – what in the world is happening.

An invisible wave of sound dances its way into my ear, causing my ear drum to vibrate, and I can hear music! Try to picture that process….w-ha-t. The list goes on and on for things I'm thankful for. It's the little things in life that matter most and when I think about them I'm blown away.

God you are a genius. Thank you.

May you take a moment to give thanks for all that you DO have. I would thank you for doing so. I would also thank you for praying for me 😀
