When I signed up for the World Race I figured it was safe to assume I'd be traveling the world in luxury, dining at the most exquisite restaurants, schmoozing with world leaders, and being pampered everywhere I went. Unfortunately, my expectations came crashing down when I found out what I was really going to be doing…

Here's a list of what I expect to happen over the 11 month journey:

  • Have my faith tested like never before. Have my patience tested like never before (yeah, you teammates!).
  • Learn to hear God's still small voice louder and clearer. Learn to tune out the unnecessary (destructive thoughts, snoring, annoying voices, roosters, bodily noises).
  • Rely on the Holy Spirit to work and Jesus to come to my rescue. Rely less on everything else.
  • See things I've only heard or read about.
  • Build genuine community.
  • Sweat so much that a disgusting layer of funk will cover my epidermis causing clouds of insects to swarm and villagers to flee from my presence.

Those things are inevitable. Here are some things I hope will happen:

  • Tell people who never heard of Jesus about Him.
  • Make the Alpha and Omega known and leave them wanting more.
  • See people reconciled to the Father through Jesus.
  • Leave lasting impressions on people (good ones!).
  • Discover which ministry I'm best utilized doing and what spiritual gift(s) I have.
  • See manifestations of the super natural.
  • Wrestle a lion, hippo, rhino and prevail against each.
