Wild Ride to the OutBack
arrived in Darwin at about 12:30 AM. As soon as you step outside you are
assaulted by humidity. Its like I never left Home. Its now about 95 everyday.
It rains for about an hour or so somewhere around us. It the rainy season here.
You can at lest be rained on or at least see a rainstorm on the horizon most of
the time.
We
packed up our Troupe, outback vehicle, and went on our way to Woolaning which
is actually based in the middle of Litchfield National Park here in the
Northern territory. Its about an hour away from civilization and two hours away
from interesting civilization.
stopped to get a tarp for our bags for when it rains, which is Good for about
an hour later it began to pour like a flood. Noe Drove the Troupe and he said
he could not see, but a couple feet in front of him because of the rain. This
was the first time I had to by provisions for a week so the girls handled that.
we are now eating rice puffs for breakfast, pb&j or tuna for lunch and
ramen for dinner.
On
the way here we were blessed to see some Wallabies, shorter version of the
kangaroo, run out in front of us on two or three occasions in the middle of the
night. As it was so sudden and dark, we were not able to get any pictures.
the rain was at its strongest and we were at our tiredest we pulled into what
we thought was our turn only to find a parking and camp site. We were tired so
we decided to setup camp. We were told earlier that the rain was so heavy that
our tents would be basically useless so we could either sleep in the troupe or
the bathroom. So guess what, three of us slept in the bathroom, me included.
Not just any bathroom, but the Girls Bathroom, what an experience. The others
slept in the troupe, they had to fight off bugs, get sufficient air and deal with not much
leg room.
outside said that they had to scare a wallaby away in the night as it was about
to enter the bathroom were we slept.
