You may ask yourself Who Pumba Is.
Well Pumba means pig In Swahili.
And Today I saw a place where a pig pushed and shoved and bored its way into the suburb town of Manila. This Pumba was unwanted and rude and aggressive. It was sloppy and wet and excessively Violent.
The Beautiful are the People who lived in safety and were surrounded by family and friends and four walls. They had dinners and invited their friends and family over to share what little they had within their modest homes.
What happened was that about six months ago the area was flooded and 100’s were left homeless. This Gym just happens to be the place were these wonderful people have been graced to lived.
The moment I walked up to the place there was a water tower and barrels everywhere to hold water for cooking washing and showers, most of this was done right near the water tower.
As we entered the building there were children playing all over. As we walked up the steps into the gymnasium there was a small village made of blankets. That was all the privacy one had. Many people were perched in the stands, but most were down within the makeshift village. It was warm and there was little air flow.
The People are Beautiful for a reason, they have kind and friendly hearts, a smile that loves that your paying attention to them. Homelessness is not a disease, it’s a circumstance that is either forced upon you like in a flood or you just can’t keep up with the bills because you lose your job or your separated form your family.
As I was taking pictures of a lady cooking shellfish of some kind, clams or mussels, she generously offered what little food she had to me. I was excited and humbled, that me a complete stranger, was given such a precious gift. These people had little to nothing and were offering what they had. Praise God For these Wonderful Filipinos.
Just remember even though a Pumba / Pig has come and pushed or kicked its way into your life, you are Beautiful and nothing can keep you down. You have 100’s if not 1,000’s who know how you feel. You are not alone in your circumstances. Just look on these Beautiful People and Know that God is with them as much as He is with you.
