Good Day!

Since graduating from Texas Tech in May 2011, I have been trying to answer the million-dollar question, “What am I going to do with my life?” It has been a fun and difficult journey so far. I have been anything from a financial analyst to a bus driver and a youth pastor to retail store manager.

Over the last 3 years, I have lived in Colorado and Texas. Most recently, I moved back to Lubbock, TX for the past 2 years. I have had the great pleasure of managing an outdoor retail store and the chance to be a youth pastor. Having two jobs that I love was amazing and a huge blessing, but it was very taxing. After almost a year, I decided to step away from the church and work solely at the outdoor store. It has been a great place to work, grow, and learn. However, after lots of prayer and soul searching, I feel like God is calling me to leave Lubbock to pursue my dreams and passions.

As you may know, I love an adventure, to serve, to teach, and to travel. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to live in Spain studying Spanish, visit Haiti twice, and serve in Cameroon. I have developed a passion and love for the nations and the least of these.  My search brought me to an organization call Adventures in Missions (AIM) and one of the mission trips they organize is a trip called the World Race.

What is the World Race and AIM?

Adventures in Missions [AIM] is an interdenominational missions organization that has taken over 100,000 people into the mission field. The World Race is program that AIM organizes.  The World Race is an 11 month long Christian mission trip in which I will spend one month in 11 different countries. Along with the mission aspect, the race is also an intensive discipleship program, designed to challenge, grow, and deepen my faith with Christ. Through the World Race, my team and I will serve in partnership with local churches and ministries around the globe to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, and bring the restorative hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations.

Who will minister alongside me?

Just like many other mission organizations, World Racers must fundraise financial support to pay for expenses. I believe that just as God has called me to go, he is also calling together a team of ministry partners who, through their prayers and financial support, will serve alongside me during my 11 months on the World Race. Would you prayerfully consider supporting me and partnering with me through this journey by giving monthly? I must raise $16,200 in order to complete the 11 months. I know that’s A LOT of money! But, if 30 people give $50 a month for 11 months, or 160 people give $100 that’s over $16,000! My first deadline is only 10 days away!!!  By June 27th, I need to raise $3,500!

“People will do anything, no matter how absurd, in order to avoid facing their own soul.” Jung.  I pray while on this journey I will get rid of the absurd and face my own soul with God and my close community around me. This will stretch and take me to a place of brokenness, a place that only God can rebuild and restore. This is an opportunity that I am excited to be apart of and I would love for you to join me. I am grateful to serve a God who takes imperfect people and uses them for His perfect plan.

Blessings,

-David
