Luke 6:31 “As you wish that others would do to you, do so to them“
Jesus just gave us permission to be ridiculously generous, to over the top and he will not only cover the cost but “it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down and shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”
I finally understand!!! That is not talking about giving to a church or a ministry necessarily, because it’s in the context of judging. This is about not judging those who have needs. They might even be our enemies, they might even be the drug dealer down the street who can’t pay his rent or provide for his family. And God is calling us to be as generous to them as we would like people to be to us. This is when the blessing rises over us like a tidal wave and we finally begin to understand the generosity of God. Through our own small attempts to imitate Him we show the world His heart and His power at the same time.
love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.
