Katie West: She is our fearless team leader. She formerly led the all-girls team Benkadi. Joholo and Benkadi got to spend the month in Serbia together and it was a lot of fun and good times with God. She is a laid-back southern girl with a forthrightness that is at first surprising but then really helpful. Really funny, just a couple days ago she fell into a small but deep body of water while trying to traverse a rock wall with slippery footholds.
Matt Patton: Here is a guy that will always have your back. Matt is really thoughtful and caring towards everyone. He is interested in medical stuff and is considering becoming a doctor. Thoughtful and analytical, as well as generous. I’m really appreciating getting to know Matt so far. Also he loves running which I really love. Today we actually ran all the way to Asia and back!
Danielle: As I write this she is precariously reaching off the bunkbed for the lightbulb in our hostel which is currently not working. This is Danielle the helpful gymnast. Super caring and wonderful. She brings so much energy to the team and a real heart of compassion. She is a nurse back home, but first and foremost she loves Jesus and everyone else.
Daina: Blogger extraordinaire. Friend to prisoners. True friend. Daina is one of the most lithuanian people I have ever met. Actually scratch that I think she’s the only lithuanian I have ever met. She makes me want to visit there someday. She is the kind of person that within the first couple days of being a team says “Ok, so what kind of things could somebody do for you that would make your day?” She is super thoughtful and generous and really inspires me.
David Hepting: He’s a really cool guy, I’m getting to know him a lot better this trip ;). I’m also beginning to like him a lot. I hope he learns a lot this year and has the time of his life.
Lauren: I’m not so sure words can really describe her. Lauren is a very unique and incredible Puerto Rican. She has tons of character (as in “what a character that Lauren is!”) Her life is an adventure wherever she goes. She is going to change the world.
I’ve been really blessed by them and have enjoyed getting to know each of them better. I can’t wait to see what the rest of this year has in store.
