Twas the day before my birthday in Kenya and not a creature was stirring… well, maybe some chickens and lizards and flies and Patrick our host. Yesterday was the day before my birthday here in Kenya and I had a really cool and great day, I am so thankful to God for it. We went to a gigantic beautiful waterfall and got to climb in a big kind of cavern underneath it. Our bus driver wrote my name on the rock. Then on our way swimming we saw a lady milking a cow and asked if we could try it and so I got to and some others did as well. It was really fun, I likely have milked a cow before but definitely never in Kenya yet.

We took a tour of a hydroelectric dam, it was pretty cool. Then we went into this beautiful river that is an outflow of the waterfall and swam down it aways with our bus conductor. It was so fun. We learned from him that manure is not only good as fertilizer but if you rub it all over yourself it protects you from bees and maybe mosquitoes and also if you mix it with blackbirch and rub it in open wounds it is very good for them. I don’t think I’m quite ready to try that out yet but it could be good to know. Then as we were walking up the hill back to the bus we find out that it is the exact hill that the Kenyan 3000m Gold Olympic medalist and I think World record holder used to train on. I was so amazed, I’ve grown to just love running more than almost anything it is so fun. It was such a blessing from God to be able to run up that exact hill that he trained on and get exhausted after just one run and he usually does 10 at a time.

Then on our way back we stopped at a mud hut to check it out and ate fresh guava from the tree in perfect sunlight and beautiful weather. Chased some chickens and took pictures and then headed back home. I started reading “The inn of the sixth happiness” about Gladys Aylward and it was so amazing and encouraging. We had corn and potatoes my two favourite vegetables for supper and it was just an amazing day. I’m so thankful to God. Now today is my birthday and I don’t know how it could get any better. God is so good :).
