As you sit down at a café to order your usual drink the person serving your drink starts some small talk. As you polity make small talk the conversation takes a turn and the person starts talking about their dream. Seeing the exhilaration and the surge of emotions burst from that person pulls you in further in, wanting to know their dream. How you not only see but feel drawn to the person’s dream and you know without a doubt it’s more than a dream…its their calling in life. As you encourage them to strive for it, they instantly drop to almost a depressing level and say, “but that will never happen.” You saw within a fraction of a second how their entire demeanor changed and it gripped your heart with sadness.

There has been a seed deeply planted in that person’s heart. It stirs passion inside but fear arises with the unknown circumstances of life. There is calling in their life and you see phenomenal potential in them, however their own doubts crush any reality of this. What if this turned around…and that person is you?

You think that there is something more but the unknown keeps you from stepping out. You would actually be surprised how much you practice faith without realizing it. “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” (Hebrews 11:1) For instance the chair you are currently sitting in, you didn’t do a thorough inspection checking every detail to see if it would hold you, you just sat in it with complete assurance that it would. Taking that step out into the unknown is a test of your faith.

Just know as you step out in what Jesus is calling for you, He will provide (Philippians 4:19). Now all you have to do is trust in Him. “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6) It is easier said than done just imagine how you would feel years down the line and looking back and thinking, “if only”.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8) The living God of the universe is calling you into something greater and will strengthen you. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

I’m going to paint a scene with this small piece of history.”When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, “What if Joseph holds a grudge against us and pays us back for all the wrongs we did to him?”So they sent word to Joseph, saying, “Your father left these instructions before he died: ‘This is what you are to say to Joseph: I ask you to forgive your brother’s the sins and the wrongs they committed in treating you so badly.’ Now please forgive the sins of the servants of the God of your father.” When their message came to him, Joseph wept.” (Gen 50:15-17)

Joseph was cut to the core and pierced in the heart because of his own brother’s doubt within their relationship. Now consider how Jesus feels when we doubt our relationship with Him. Then faithful king who loves you more than you can ever fathom. Don’t doubt your calling within your relationship with Him. You are meant to do something beyond what you could ever imagine in His love! Follow Him deeply into what He’s calling you for.

Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me.” Psalm 42:7
