WARNING- this blog is a little different lol

In this passage several men came across a man possessed by an evil spirit. Then they tried to exercise it.

ACTS 19:15-1615 And the evil spirit answered and said to them, “I recognize Jesus, and I know about Paul, but who are you?” 16 And the man, in whom was the evil spirit, leaped on them and subdued all of them and overpowered them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

This passage has always convicted me deeply since I first read it in prayer group at college. To me it made me wonder.. What would a demon say of me? Whats my reputation in Hell? Would they no my name? Would they say oh David he easily falls into temptation or David the one who claims himself righteous and holy but is not. This passage moves me because the demon knew the names of Jesus and Paul. This evil spirit recognized all the good they had done. And the power that God had in their lives.

  • Jesus performing many miracles, living a perfect life and laying Himself down as the spotless Lamb for all of humanity to receive redemption.
  • Paul the greatest missionary to probably ever live. One who suffered for Christ and counted it joy.
  • Me one who attends Church regularly prays and reads his bible not as often as he should and participates in ministry opportunities when its convenient for him.

The chances are most of us would be with those men who were overpowered by the demon ripped of their clothes and thrown in the street.. It’s because so many of us live such small Christian lives. Too wrapped up in our agenda, what we want, how and when we want it; to the point were even our Christianity becomes selfishly motivated.

Paul had in him something all Christians have. The holy spirit. It is where the greatness of the Christian life waits. Can we have perfection as Jesus had? No. (But let’s remember He was 100% God and 100% man.) We can however strive to be more like Him. More than a fan, more than a pretender or fence sitter. But a sold-out contending follower of Christ.

Whats your reputation in hell? Who knows? A question that challenges the core of our Christianity and the authenticity of it. I do know this, we as Christians should never stop striving to change this world in the name of Christ. Look at all Hes done for Us… Lets share it.. 🙂
