And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. Matthew 14:29
By faith Peter stepped out of the boat! I feel like that’s what the daunting task of missions is… Especially in the beginning. Raising funds, trusting God, asking people for help; fighting doubt and worry. Just flat out vulnerability. I love it! Forget the latter half of the passage when Peter went under water. We too often focus on that. Peter GOT OUT OF THE BOAT!! He saw the waves challenges and had tons of worry before stepping out I’m sure. Just like I’m sure many of the world racers have before they step out of their boat. (Which happens to be a more comfortable/stable life.) But.. Peter seeing the challenges also had the audacious faith to step out. Me and many other young people are trying to follow this example faith. Ill be honest, I’m scared. So many what-ifs hang in the balance. But that’s what the beauty of faith is. Its a full dependence on God and the wrestling match to maintain that dependence. So pray for me and all the world racers as we slowly take our first step of faith onto the water.
My 3 biggest obstacles keeping me in my boat were.
- My Family really needed me through a tough time.
- Fear of the unknown.
- Just flat out selfishness.
And without faith it is impossible to please Him. Hebrews 11:6
