“I am broken by the brokenness of my dear people. I mourn; horror has taken hold of me” (Jer. 8:21)

Each and every day I am asking the Lord to break my heart for what breaks his. Whether it’s poverty, sickness, death, unbelief, abuse, violence, or any other evil forces in this world.

He is breaking my heart.

Currently my heart aches for the community that is suffering in Vegas. This mass shooting, that has already taken 59 lives, is undoubtedly the work of the devil. The pain of those affected by this tragedy is completely unimaginable and they are in desperate need of healing. A healing that I believe can only be found in Jesus Christ.

Just as a mother or father feels pain when their child is in pain, the Lord feels our pain. He feels the weight of our heavy hearts; He understands the disappointment of our broken and lost nation. Even Jesus wept for the sins of this world.

When we ask the Lord to break our hearts and to see through His eyes and His love, we are asking to be more like Him. We are asking to be truly burdened with concern for others. We are taking on the responsibility of praying for the needs of others.

The Lord has seen the burden of sin in this world, and he loves us so much that he sent his His son to deliver us from the darkness and give us new life. So even in this time of grief we can REJOICE!! For He has overcome the world.

“But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for your are my fortress, my refuge in times or trouble.” (Psalms 59:16)

So whether or not you were affected directly by this tragedy, take a few minutes to join hands with your family, friends, and neighbors to pray over them.

My prayers for Vegas:
STRENGTH to overcome this pain
PEACE amidst the chaos
HOPE over this nation full of unbelievers
UNITY as the body of Christ
REDEMPTION for those who have fallen into sin
HEALING throughout their community
LOVE in this time where it is so easy to turn to hate
PRESENCE of the Lord throughout the entire nation
