What does it take to be a World Racer
and more importantly a follower of Christ? I can’t answer that yet,
but I’m starting to figure it out.
We arrived in Hyderabad, India on
January 3rd and stayed for a week at a place called
Retreat House, which is a convent. This week was launch week, which included some
training for team leaders and team finance “officers”, which I am, as well as squad and team building, info sessions, and
worship/message services. I was asked to lead worship with my
teammate Vinny on the drums, which I have to admit was a little scary
at first since I haven’t played in front of a large crowd in a long
time, but God got me over myself and it was awesome. I know that
leading worship is something God has called me to, and I’m excited
for how He’ll use me in those times throughout the rest of the race!

After launch my team made their way to
Bangalore, India to work with YWAM (Youth With A Mission). Getting
there was a little bit of a hard time, and staying up all night in
the airport gave us a second dose of jet-lag after just getting over
the jet-lag from the States to India trip. However, we were given the
first day off upon arrival, and Vinny and I took it to heart by
crashing for 14 hours on our bunks! We probably should have had enough sense to closed the door to the outside because we both woke up with over 25
mosquito bites, yikes! The next two days in Bangalore were spent
getting to know the area of the city closest to us, growing together
more as a team, and working with a place called Vision School.
Vision School was started to grow children of the local neighborhood slums in God’s teachings and to share Christ’s love. It takes place only on Saturdays
and Sundays for an hour, but these kids are so excited to be there.
On Saturday we taught them some songs, played some games, and did a
skit for them on the story of David and Goliath, where I played the
part of Goliath. They seemed to really enjoy the story and understand
the message. On Sunday we did a similar routine, but acted out the
story of Noah’s ark, where I played the part of Noah. Working with
Vision School is only one of the many ministries my team and I will
be a part of here in Bangalore, so I’m excited to see what’s next!

Here at YWAM we have the ability to get
online, so stayed tuned for frequent updates. Please continue to pray, and God will move.
My team and I wholeheartedly believe
God has laid Matthew 10:8 on our hearts, and we expect each other to
be obedient to God’s call. Be excited and pray for what God wants to
do in and through us!
Matthew 10:8 “‘Heal the sick, raise
the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely
you have received, freely give.'”
