First, I want to apologize for not writing a blog about
Swaziland until well after I had left it. Time runs away from you sometimes,
and with limited to no internet connectivity as per usual my blogs got the
short end of the stick. So, here’s a little of what happened in Swaziland.
We spent the month on top of a small mountain in one of the
most beautiful scenic views I’ve ever been blessed enough to withhold. The sad
thing is my computer is currently broken so I can’t upload any pictures to back
up my claims, but trust me it was epic. With that said, we worked with a
ministry called El Shaddai Children’s Home, which is an orphanage and school.
The orphanage was started by a married couple Kallie and Charmain who live at
the orphanage still. God told Charmain when they arrived on the desolate hill
that they were to start an orphanage here, but to not advertise or raise money
because the Lord would provide all they needed, which is exactly what happened.
God just sent money and people and supplies without them every asking anyone
for anything. Their mountain peak has been transformed into a literal oasis
filled with beautiful vegetation. They began living there out of a small
trailer home, and after trusting in the Lord for 10 years now they have a great
home for themselves, guest dorms and bathrooms, separate dorms for the boys and
girls who live there, a babies house, a church, a kitchen and dining hall, and
a school, as well as a farm all from God’s provision without even asking for
help. I say this about every place I go, but God’s hand is definitely upon this
ministry. It’s just obvious.
There were two small but taller mountains connected to the
one on which El Shaddai sat, which we would climb during some time off. I
learned a lot about myself up there. God spoke to me differently, but directly
almost every time I climbed those mountains. They will always hold a significant
place in my heart. The view from them was breath taking too. Imagine large
mountains in the distance with a valley and river running below you in front of
them. It was straight out of the Lord of the Rings.
There is so much I would like to tell you about our month
there, the kids, Charmain and Kallie’s testimonies, the things I learned, the
relationships I built, but I want to focus on what is happening currently. So I
apologize again about not posting sooner and leaving out a lot of interesting
stories, but hopefully you can get more information from my teammates blogs,
who actually keep up to date. I have no idea when I’ll get my computer fixed,
so until then I can’t post pictures, sorry. Thank you for your patience
with me and for your continued prayers and support.
