The Minister of Mogollon

Our job this month here in the Dominican Republic
is to bless Pastor Manuel. He is a
gentle yet mighty man of God who has endured much sorrow already in life. His wife died over a year ago and his 25 year
old son, Joshua, passed away on the 31st of December due to sickle
cell anemia…a day before he was going to leave on a mission trip to Chile.
Our ministry contact here in the DR didn’t think
Pastor Manuel would want to take care of a team of foreigners and find work for
us to do during this difficult time.
Pastor Manuel insisted, “The work must go on!”
night at the Pastor’s house, joined by his two other sons, Nehemiah and Moses
(his married daughter is in the capital, Santo Domingo), our translator Richard
and a close friend of Joshua’s, Felix.
We sang songs (translated a few of them), shared stories and were
blessed by Manuel’s spirit amidst his recent tragedy

On
Wednesday, Friday and Sunday there are evening services, which require someone
to be ready to give a testimony, preach a sermon or sing a song. Saturday’s will be our day of rest.
Pastor
Manuel seems genuinely grateful for our services, the partnership we bring to
his ministry and just giving him more time for whatever he needs to do.
P.S. –
Can I just say how proud I am of Lindsay and her Spanish speaking ability. She catches most everything people say and
did an amazing job translating the story
of Noah last Sunday during the afternoon children’s service.
