This couple is originally from Chile and they are planting physical and spiritual seed here in Africa. We found out about this opportunity through a friend of the amazing group, Papa Kent, Mama Shay and Teri, who have hosted us this last week at the Betor House.
This past month in Back Door, South Africa, we made a garden behind the “Children’s Village” housing using this farming method called “Farming God’s Way“: Spot planting instead of using a till to get the seeds under the ground, laying last year’s leftover crop over the new crop as covering/ protection and bathing the field in lot’s of prayer.
another go at farming there. He works hard, basically too hard, and is not getting anywhere until he gives his life to Christ. From then on his whole demeanor and perspective on life changes…and he starts preaching almost more than he farms.
Talking with the shuttle van driver on our way down to Johannesburg, I heard that Angus is still hosting these large gatherings; just two months ago he got ready to have 100,000 Mighty Men gather on his farm, called Shalom, but instead 350,000 men showed up. God is moving here in Africa and from what Angus said, Jesus’ second coming is not just near, he’s on his way.
I’m looking forward to this next month and all the ways that God is going to show up…getting dirty and seeing beauty in his land and getting dirty through real relationships and seeing the beauty in his people.
Check out Hebrews 11 for other amazing stories of faith actions, like farming.
