This blog includes videos and pictures from each country, ending with a few things from Cambodia. Each video is less than a minute, and i’ve divided the blog by country…hope it adds to your mental picture of where i am and where i’ve been.
SAN JUAN – Dominican Republic
Here is a video of my brother from the DR, Hueso. It was our last night, and it’s a simple video showing he and i together the last time i saw him. Find someone who speaks Spanish to translate what he says for you…
The two pictures below are of the plateau we prayed on every day before entering the slum of Guachupita in San Juan, and two boys i grew to love in San Juan who lived in the slum but followed us everywhere, their names are Antonio and Michael.
HAITI – the border, before arriving in Jacmel
Here’s a video from the bus as we were trying to enter Haiti. We sat on a bus at the border for about two and a half hours waiting to cross into the country. Apparently, Haiti only allows one bus per day into the country from the company we were using for transport, and since we had 54 of us, they needed two that day. We were the second bus, and our response to the challenge was just to use the two and a half hours as a time of worship on the bus…it was pretty fantastic. and of course, God opened the border for us.
Every country we go to, God ushers in rain with us. Rain is a symbol of God’s blessing throughout scripture, and we’ve seen it the same way. In this video, i’m enjoying the cambodian rain…
Here’s another video from Cambodia. It’s taken while i’m riding a bike to class…it’s bumpy…take dramamine before watching it…but it’s fun.
(THIS VIDEO IS IN THE PROCESS OF UPLOADING, AND WILL BE POSTED ASAP)
Here’s an example of a Photoshop project we’ve done with the students in our computer class. It’s been hard to learn and stay ahead of the students, but we really like how the Lord has blessed the process…and how a simple project like this allows us to share about the time we had in the DR and the way the kids impacted our lives. And fortunately, it’s allowed us to talk with the students about the love of Jesus we have been traveling around the world to share with them. Doors are there to walk through, if we’re willing to look for them and then turn the knob…
Here’s a view of some houses right down the street from us. Our guest house at the YWAM base backs up to this river, and these are our neighbors. the thing that makes it so sad is that we’re in Siem Reap which is the touristy, wealthy part of Cambodia. To have this type of poverty in the midst of wealth(or something kinda like it), is really hard to reconcile…
