This is not just for those of us who are on the world race!
Good morning brothers and sisters, I just read Luke 5:1-11 and these verses stood out to me as others have said and myself included, how we are leaving friendships, family, jobs, etc…to go on the World Race. Let God’s word work in our hearts and perhaps this is only the beginning on what is to come. Let us follow the example Christ set before us in calling His first disciples, and there reaction to the call on there lives.
Note:
*Simon Peter knew he was sinful, but Jesus brought redemption and called him to action.
*Also the last sentence, they left everything and followed Him. Our hope and reward is eternal life with Christ.
Q. What are we trying to bring with us on the race that God wants us to drop at His feet, and follow Him?
-Sin, heartache, friends, family, past, future, bitterness…
My prayer: Heavenly Father, please reveal to us everything that we are trying to carry with us, not just on this World Race, but in our daily lives and relationship with you, on “the race marked out for us.” Please help us to lay it all down at your feet and follow you whole heatedly. Please forgive us Lord of our sins “create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me, Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a WILLING spirit to sustain me.” Psalms 51:10-12 In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.” For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish that they had taken, and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.” And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed him. (Luke 5:8-11 ESV)
They did not know what tomorrow would hold, how there “needs” would be met… Those things were added unto them as they focused on and followed Christ our Savior day by day. Child like faith!
