When people ask how I liked India, I usually say that it is crazy but I love it. Then they ask what I mean by crazy. Here are a few examples:
-Everything is festive, even the dump trucks are decorated.
-Mehandi (henna) is mostly done for weddings or specials occasions.
-The food is spicy but I love it!
-Americans are celebrities (some villages we went to we were the first Americans they had ever seen).
-Autos are crazy and fun but sometimes they can make you afraid for your life.
-Crazy traffic, literally there are no rules.
-People hanging off the sides of buses to get a free ride.
-5 people on one motorcycle is normal.
-All kinds of animals in the middle of the street, goats, water buffalo, monkeys, pigs, and dogs.
-You eat with your right hand. Eating with your left hand is offensive.
-It is provocative to show your ankles but it is normal for your stomach to show.
-You can eat a meal for $1USD.
-It is normal for guys to hold hands with guys and girls to hold hands with girls.
-They drive on the left side of road.
-Cricket, the sport, is harder than it looks.
-Sarees aren’t as breezy as they look.
-When it says beef on a menu it is not beef it’s water buffalo (which tastes like deer).
-Church is 3 hours long.
-The “bathroom” could just be a cement room with no hole or a tree.
-Bring your own TP everywhere! Most places dont have it.
-They still cook outside over a fire.
-The roads are very bumpy.
-They slam on their brakes A LOT!
-The whole country is full of color.
-Monkeys eating bananas outside the grocery store.
-Herds of goat or water buffalo causing traffic (walking down a major highway).
-Random people on the street ask to take your picture.
-They think being white is beautiful so their lotion and body wash have whitening in it (kinda like our tanning lotion).
-Rice drying on tarps on the side of the road or even in the road.
I’m hoping to post a blog and video soon about the ministry that we did while we were in India.
We are still in need of about $8,250 in order to meet our final deadline on January 1st. If we don’t make this deadline then we have to come home. We believe that God wants us to be here and He will provide the funds that we need. If you would like to support us financially just click the “support me” button. You can also support us through prayer. All donations are tax-deductible.
