Cusco, Peru (sigh) breathless. Literally because it is over 11, 000 ft above sea level and it is very hard for me to catch a good breath. Regardless it is still a very beautiful place and very nice people. The 120 hr travel day was well worth it. It makes my soul so happy to be here. The people have been very welcoming and what can I say about the children at the ministry where I am volunteering. When Cal and I (my team member), arrived to our ministry site yesterday we were welcomed by a very warm and big hug by the children. That makes me so happy to be part of their lives even if it is for a very short time. I learn from them a true and sincere feeling. They do not care who you are or what you do. Sometimes we are too quick to judge that we do not see beyond what is in front of us. I feel such a privilege to be here and able to share God’s love and my love to these people. From day one I fell in love with this place. People here have been receptive to prayer. Some people we have stopped as we have gone through town have accepted the prayer offered. Even at the market when we were just there to buy food. God can use you anywhere you are. God does not limit himself to just church. We are the church and wants to use us if we allow him to.
This area has many native people and has many Tourist. Each having their own beliefs and traditions, and much being on witchcraft and trying to find an inner healing. God is not really a priority here. Some places we are not allowed to talk about God. I am happy to be surrounded by all the people, but I want to be able to pour out lots of love and share that God is the only way to freedom and healing. He loves them just as he loves you and me. There is so much for us to give and I know we will end up seeing God throughout the town. God will open doors and allow his love in people’s heart. My team “Los Mensajeros” are here to serve and do God’s will. But as our name states, we are here to spread the word of God. My prayer is that the people can see Christ in us without even saying a word. I pray people get so curious as to why we have so much joy in us that they will ask and we can share the word of God. We are here for a mission and will not dismay.
My ministry this month is working with children between the ages of 5-12 yrs. It is an after school program and I will be helping them with their homework and do some activities with them. Before the World Race I can honestly say I had no interest in working with children. Now I have had the opportunity to work with them and I have grown to like it. Maybe because I can see past their behavior and see how much love and attention the kids crave. I will give the best I have and am here for them.
It is just a few days of being here, but I am so excited to see what God will do. Not being over 11,000 ft and not able to breathe sill stop me from seeing what God will do. He has brought me all the way here to Cusco for something and I looking forward to seeing what He has in in mind.
