Hey everyone!
This being my first blog I wanted to start off by thanking you for stopping by and reading what i have to say. My heart is beating probably ten times as fast as it normally does. I’m Darlene, some people reading this may know me and some may not but I want to become friends with you. I want you to follow my blog and follow this adventure i’m going to embark on because I think GOD is ready to move in ALL of our hearts. As most of you know, Maya Angelou recently passed away. A beautiful woman in every sense of the word. I remember I used to look through her quotes trying to get some insight on my life. Her quotes were great but what i’ve found most recently to be even better, her love for God. I watched a video between her and Oprah that had been taken a few years ago. Oprah asked Maya to tell her the best advice she had ever given. Maya said there are three things:
1. In order to have a friend, you must be a friend.
2. You must keep a place in your heart that is clean, clean from all of the hard times the world puts on you because more often than not, that is where you will find God.
3. God is ALL.
The advice Maya Angelou gave is the way I decided I wanted to start off this adventure. God designed all of us in hopes that there would be peace in this world and that we could all get along. I want to be friends with you, my readers, my squad, and everyone in between. I want you to gain just as much as I do over these 11 months by staying connected. I’ve found that life tears us down sometimes, in the worse ways, and from what i’ve gathered.. we all need that clean place and for me, i believe with all my heart that it’s the world race. I’ve already gotten questions like, “are you sure you really want to do that?”, “aren’t you scared?”, “are you going to be able to raise that much money?”. The answer is YES, YES, and YES. I feel clean and I have full faith that i’m exactly where i’m supposed to be. So, I’m asking you… will you go with me??!
Whether it be prayerfully or financially. I need YOU! I’m going to be taken completely out of my comfort zone, living in a tent, with a backpack traveling through 11 countries for 11 months and that’s not near the most important part. I’m going to be ministering, building churches, helping the broken, and spreading God’s great word. I couldn’t be MORE stoked!! Am i crazy?? Maybe so but like Maya said, God is ALL. What more could i need?
In order for me to take on this adventure full force I need to raise 16, 243 dollars to be fully funded.
Deadlines include:
$3500.00 by October 3rd, 2014
$7500.00 by December 19, 2014
$11,000 by April 1, 2015
fully funded at $16,243 by July 1, 2015
SO if you can give and God puts my blog and my friendship on your heart, please follow his word. If you can’t give financially at this time, PLEASE pray for safety, strength, and funding for myself and my squad mates. You all are AWESOME already!
