One month! One month! Exactly one month before I leave for the world race. July 4th will not be the beginning but a continuation of the world race.
Here’s how I got ready for the world race during training camp:
Training Camp occurred May 18-25. Each day we had a different scenario to help us prepare for what could happen while at the field. We were challenge physically and spiritually. We quickly build a community of friendships who pray, praise, cry, laugh, and dance together.
Here are a few highlights:
1. At 4:00 am May 18th- off I went with a big smile on my face because with no sleep I finally figured out how to pack my sleeping bag, tent, sleep pad, and all my belongings in my backpack.
2. When I arrived at the airport, I was greeted with nothing but smiles. We rode the magic school bus to the campsite to set up our tents, which I thought we would be sleeping in every night, little did I know.
3. Fast-forward to second night, May 19th- half of us lost our bags, backpack and day-packs. My packs were one of the lost bags, I got to share tent with one of my lovely new sisters.
4. May 21th- We went hiking, we got lost for about 2 hours, we stayed positive and became STRONGER individually and as a team. Some of us slept under tarps, while others and myself slept underneath the stars. It was the best day/night of training camp, hardship brought us closer together.
5. During training camp ,You are Loved!!! When and if you get sick during training camp (which I did) you will be loved on! Pray for! Cared for! And Loved on some more! The amount of love and care I received from everyone surpass what any medication did for me that night. It warms my heart that I will be traveling the next 11 months with loving and caring brothers and sisters.
7. Meet the Q squad! We started as strangers; we quickly became family!! They are bold and on fire for God; loving and caring. When you need prayer, it’s a community affair, everyone is so genuine and always ready to pray with you!!
