Hey guys!
My name is Dannah, and I am a senior in high school who is about to graduate (finally) in May! A few short days after graduation, I will be packing my bags to head off to Nepal for a month and I am PUMPED.
I hate talking about myself, so I’m just going to share the one story that applies the most: how I ended up on this trip. Here we go!
Throughout my middle and high school years, I have gone on mission trips practically every summer. Except I just treated them as week long vacations and I felt like it was my duty as a Christian to go. I thought that I would never want to do missions outside of my one week a year. But as always, God’s plan was bigger and better than my own plan. This past summer I went to Haiti for the second time, but this time it was different. I came to life there, I had never been filled with so much joy. My family was there with me and they all could see it. They told me that God was calling me to missions. I ignored them at first of course, but throughout my stay in Haiti God opened my eyes and it became extremely apparent that this was God’s plan for my life. By the end of the trip, I did not want to leave.
I mean who would?! Obviously I had to go, but there has never been a day since then that I do not think about sharing God’s love all over the world. I entered a season of life where I just wanted to start, I was eager to just get up and go serve. But I knew that I needed to be patient. I couldn’t just up and move to a different country right then and there. So I settled on being content just talking about missions since I could not go right then. I was talking to my mom about it one day and all of a sudden I asked, “Is it possible to could go on a year long mission trip, but to a bunch of different places rather than one place.” God had clearly placed that thought on my heart because there was a very specific answer (hint: the World Race). And my mom knew that answer, she told me that it was possible!! I knew that eventually I was going to be going on the World Race, but again, I would have to wait. So instead, I spent my days reading and watching youtube videos of world racers. As I was doing that, I saw that there were semester trips (EEK)!!! I HAD TO GO. The trip details for this summer weren’t out when I found that information though, so I woke up on the morning of November 14th and went straight to see if the semester trips details were out, and they were! As I read the description for Nepal, for some reason I teared up, and it became clear where God was calling me to. After praying about it for a couple of weeks, I applied and got accepted!! And here I am now, counting down the days 🙂
So that’s my little blurb of how I got where I am right now! If you’re interested in knowing some random stuff about me, here you go:
- My family are my best friends
- I have a guitar and I play it a lot… that does not mean I’m good
- A bagel with cream cheese is my weakness
- Except I’m lactose intolerant
- But I eat dairy anyways a lot of the time and suffer the consequences
- I believe in pumpkin bread all year round
- Sparkling water is better than all other liquids
- I am always cold… even in Texas
- Flowers are my favorite
- You had me at “let’s go on an adventure”
BUT the thing that brings me the most joy is loving Jesus and loving on his people 🙂
Thanks for hanging out! Go check out all my future blogs for a lot of amazing stuff about the Lord and how HE is working in my life and the lives of others.
