In just 11 days, I'll be leaving for 11 months.

Crazy!

On Friday, October 7th, I'll be flying out to Los Angeles, and then to Antigua, Guatemala. I'd like to share with you a little information about what Team Freedom will be doing on the first month on World Race. Here's some details from our first ministy contact.

Ministry Name: Hogar Rosa de Amor y Rosa de Saron

Ministry City: San Lucas, Sacatepequez

Daily Ministry Host: Pat y Rosa

Ministry Vision:

Hogar Rosa de Amor (RDA)takes in abused and/or abandoned kids and gives them Life for as long as they are in this home. The vision of Rosa de Saron(RDS) is to provide, maintain, and administrate a safe, secure, and Christ-centered housing facility for children rescued and removed from dangerous and abusive living conditions, a place of refuge where these children can develop their God-given skills and abilities and develop hope for their future.

Ministry Summary:

We will be working with 23 kids, from ages 2 to almost 18. Most of the kidas are girls; there are three boys, the oldest being six years old. RDA and RDS have only been working and living together in one place for a bit over 2 months. RDA has been in operation for more than 5 years. The kids are placed here by the government, but no gov't help whatsoever is given to provide any of their needs. So the challenge for RDA is to meet these needs every month. RDS has a beautiful place to maintain, including a 30+ yr old building, an additional building, and two large yards.

Guatemalan schools take their "summer"-equivalent 3 month break beginning in mid-October, so Rosa's kids will be available and ready for any and all types ministry, including but not limited to: tutoring, Bible studies, learning worship songs and dances, arts and crafts, and playing sports & games. There may also be opportunity to help out with daily chores, such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. RDS has lots of maintenance needs, including but not limited to lots of weeds 😀
