So we just finished Month 9.

Yeah, like month 9 of 11. Thats like 81.81818181% of the Race.
Over.
As I write this, my countdown app tells me we have 57.96 days left till we land in LAX.
I can't even think straight enough to blog the month of Uganda.
I'll just let the photos do the talking…

[Happy 23rd Birthday Heather!]

[Organized Chaos]

[Kenra received a flower from one of 400 high school boys]

[Chubby baby]

[Kinda reminds me of Antigua]

[Sandals made from tires]

[In the evenings we would join the Makobore High School boys for their free time.
We developed relationships with them and occasionally played sports with them.
I wish they had more free time every day.]

[Every Sunday we would lead the service. Kenra did a foot washing and talked about humbling ourselves.]

[Our team spent a day split up into different classrooms and joined the students for a portion of thier day.
I scored 10/10 on a Kiswahili quiz and participated in French class as well.
I hung outside and answered plety of America questions. In one class the teacher talked about 'Why people smoke' and heard "Whites smoke in the winter to keep themselves warm."….]

[We visited the sister school of Makobore. It had 800 girls!]

[After leaving the girl's school, a few of us helped carry the jerry cans of water for a few kids
up to heir home… I decided to have a rat-tail weave put on my hair. Sadly, it didn't last very long.]

[Rukungiri is a beautiful small town.]

[Bananas galore. 'Matoke' is the staple here – boiled, starchy bananas]

[Coffee beans being sorted]

[We met a wonderful Australian couple in Rukungiri – Bob & Sue. Brandon and I helped Bob a few times at the clinic for the diocese. We helped adjust the surgery light, fix some door hinges, and I climbed over the top of a wall into a locked storage room and unhinged it so we could change the lock with no key.]

[The boys had a drama team and did a few performances in a showcase type performance. This boy dressed up as Rihanna and did a 'mime' / lip sync. His shirt is stuffed with avocado pits. Too funny.]

[Our team did worship under the stars one night.]

[We accompanied the boys on a field trip to Lake Edward, driving through the back of
Queen Elizabeth's Game Reserve to get here. It was a fun trip.
We waded through some water to get to the lake.]

[Storks are nothing for local kids to be startled by.]

[Hippos are also less than 100 feet away from the shorelines of the fishing village.]

[Kids followed us through the town.]

[That's how you pack a truck.]

[Lawrence & Martin – two of my favorite students.]

[We celebrated Becca's Birthday with a food coma. Home made mac & cheese and apple pie.
All things are possible on the race!]

[One of my favorite days of the month was teaching the boys to play Ultimate.
I haven't played since I left home. They were only disappointed that it wasn't an Olympic sport…]

[Saying goodbye to Makobore!]

[We met as a squad in Jinja to see the Nile.]

[… and RAFT it! Here's me holding on for dear life.]

I am currently in Tanzania after a bus that was 9 hours late and a 24 hour commute. I've seen Kilimanjaro… and it's HUGE!
More pics to come later, as always. 🙂
