Hey guys sorry this is my first blog post. I’ve definitely been procrastinated about doing it/ haven’t had time since leaving to have time to sit down and do it. So a lot has happen since I left so I’ll give y’all a quick recap.
Aug 1st– Aug 4th I left for the race and spent four days in Atlanta GA, for more training and preparing for launch.
Aug 5th– Aug 7th We left the hotel at 1:15am heading to the airport and spent a total of 45 hours traveling to Johannesburg South Africa. ( during which I almost lost my laptop in one of the airport terminals. More on that later..)
Aug 7th We final arrived at our ministry host at 5:30am on about 7 hours of sleep.
Aug 8th– Aug 10 The first day or two we got to catch up on some sleep and try to get over jetlag. In-between naps we started to have some training sessions as well as learn about the ministry we are working in this month.
So this month my team (Kindle, which I’ll probably do an introduction in my next blog about my teammates) and three other teams are here in Johannesburg at the some ministry host this month. We are working with a ministry called Impact Africa. Impact Africa has three branches of ministry, Impact Kids, Impact Students, and Impact babies.
There are over 1.6 million people living in squatter camps around Johannesburg. Most of these people have homes and family somewhere else but moved here to find a job so they can send money back to support their family. The goal of impact Africa is to be the hands and feet of Jesus by effectively sharing the Gospel and help disciple new believers.
On Friday we got to go into one of the squatter camps and put on a kids club for all the kids in the camp. We sang songs, told bible story’s, and played games with the kids.
Pictures will come later..
Thank you for all the prayers and everyone supporting me.
For the Kingdom,
Daniel McNair
