I wanted to share with you some pictures to capture my favorite moments of the last month. So here you go!

Our host family, Sherri and Gozie Kone, are two of the most spectacular people I’ve ever met. They have taken us in and treated us like family since the moment we arrived. Sherri met us at the airport in Abidjan and took the 10 hour bus ride with us to Korhogo (she had to ride down too. She rode 20 hours on a road that felt more like a roller coaster than means of transportation just to make sure we got where we needed to be safely).

Here are some pictures of Danielle in the wild experiencing Africa. Enjoy!

On our way to church in our pagnes. Trying our best to fit in with the locals. Think we succeeded?

When the sun is too hot and the water is too heavy. #WorldRaceProbs

Trying to fit in with the locals. Again. I had a lady tell me I’ll never be able to balance on my head correctly because my hair is too slippery. I will prove her wrong by the end of the race and I will take a picture of it.

My team with our matching pagnes to show unity.

Hands stained after a hard day’s work of ministry.

Most adventurous meal. Chicken head and feet! It tasted like extra crispy KFC. Highly recommend it.

Climbed to the top of Mount Korhogo on one of our adventure days. Usually it’s hazy from the dust, but we got lucky with a BEAUTIFUL clear sky.

The most beautiful sunset on our last day in Côte d’Ivoire. A perfect way to close out month one. Behind the scenes: this was taken riding in the trunk of a SUV. The car was in motion. Typical African style.

Hope you enjoyed this sneak peek into my life in month one!
