During Romania, some of my squad invited our parents out for something called the Parent Vision Trip (PVT). This trip is designed for the parents to have the opportunity to come out and serve with us for a week. They had the chance to see what we have been doing for the year and walk in our shoes alongside of us. I was so thankful that my mom was actually able to come! We thought that it wouldn’t be possible, but God meant for her to be there and she was.
At first we thought that she would have to raise a ton of money to come for different things, but God provided everything little by little and in the end it was amazing to see how He put it all together. We thought the cost layout would look something like this:
PVT (AIM) price- $750
Plane ticket- $2,000
Shots- $60
Hotel- $300
Food- $150
God didn’t see it that way! Instead this is what He provided:
PVT (AIM) price- $750
Plane ticket- $1,200
Shots- $0 (she didn’t need any)
Hotel- $30 (and she got upgraded to the executive suite)
Food- $0 (provided with the hotel upgrade)
God is SO GOOD!!! He made the way so that she was able to make it with no problems at all!
While the parents were with us, we were able to do a different ministry everyday. On the first day we had the opportunity to walk around and hand out New Testaments to people and place them in the gates. My mom and I were paired up with Alysse and her mom Pam. God has given those ladies the gift of talking to anyone and sharing the gospel so boldly.
On the second day we helped with a kids carnival day for the neighborhood kids. They were expecting about 60-80 and to everyone’s surprise there were over 150 kids that showed up. Each racer/parent pair had a group of our own. We took them around to each of the stations and had the chance to just be goofy with them.
On the third day we went around to do home visits in the villages near by. Me and my mom were honored to be paired up with Denise and her incredible parents, Yolanda and Darryl. That family brings so much joy everywhere they go and are filled with so much laughter. My mom and I had so much fun being with them for the day. We went around with Mariana and had the privilege to visit with 10 families.
PVT was a complete success. This was my moms first ever mission trip and the first time she left the United States. I loved sharing some amazing memories with her and showing her what all God has placed on my heart for the future. I am so thankful for the chance to have served others side by side with my mom. She is my hero and has been my rock for 24 years and she brings so much joy to my life.
I hope you have enjoyed PVT as much as I did! Much love to all the families that were part of PVT! <3
