Hey y’all!
This is my first blog post…so bare with me!
Naturally, when I’ve told people that I have decided to do the World Race, and explain to them what exactly it is, I get lots of questions as well as concerns. I’ve gotten the ” Oh my gosh, you’re crazy!”, to the “Why can’t you just do stuff like that in the U.S.?” or “Why do you want to do that?” and then my oh so favorite, “World War III is about to break out, it’s not safe to be in another country when that happens.“
In June 2016, the Lord put in my heart the desire to go farther, do more, and stay longer. I wasn’t exactly sure what that looked like, but I knew that desire would continue to burn in my heart until I took a risk and did something about it. I found out about the WR shortly after my return home from a short term mission trip to Uganda. When I watched the videos, read the blogs, and got a little bit more info, I knew right then that this was something that the Lord had placed in my path for a reason. I wrote down specific details about one of the routes in my prayer journal and pushed it to the back of my head. Here and there I would go back and circle the route in prayer, watch some more videos– I couldn’t shake the desire to GO. In December, I found myself staring down the “Apply Here” button, paid the fee, and filled out the application.
Since January, there has been a reoccurring word that pops up everywhere! It’s a simple word, but its a word that describes what we, the body of Christ, are called to be–LIGHT— I was at a series of prophetic services where I heard Isaiah 60:1-3. For me, this verse was confirmation that the Lord wanted to use me to reach the nations, and that His light would be shining through me.
“Arise! Shine! Your light has come, and the glory of the Lord is shining on you! Other nations will be covered with darkness, but on you, the light of the Lord will shine; the brightness of His presence will be with you. Nations will be drawn to your light, and the kings to the brightness of your rising.”
THAT, friends, is my WHY.
I want to go to the deepest and darkest places, where some are afraid to go– because I cannot imagine a life without ever even hearing of His name, or knowing His grace, or feeling His love.
I want to take a risk for Jesus.
The fact of the matter is, we are called to spread the Good news ALL of the time. As Paul puts it in 2 Timothy 4:2 “Be ready to preach the Word whether or not the time is right. Point out errors, warn people, and encourage them. Be very patient when you teach.”
So yes, it would be easier to stay in the U.S. and reach out to people here because there are plenty of opportunities.. BUT, I believe the Lord equips those that He has called out. He knows that not all people are willing to go to the ends of the nations, and thats completely okay. As for me, He has called me higher, and deeper, and I will go where He will lead me.
Our nations may not be in the best state right now, and traveling to 11 different countries in 11 months may seem absolutely crazy. But y’all, my Father has me held tightly right square in the palm of His hands, and I find absolute peace and comfort in knowing that.
P.S. The short clip below reveals the 11 countries my squad and I will be traveling to!!
