“ A way maker
A miracle worker
A promise keeper
Light in the darkness
My God, that’s what you are.”
Those were the words being sung by the congregation today, Sunday December 31, 2017, but the words in my heart continued on to say:
“ A chain breaker
A pain taker,
That’s what you are.”
As these words were being sung, the Lord revealed to me there were chains in the room that He wanted to break off of people. Chains that were holding people in bondage to drug addiction, marriages, alcohol addiction, and generational curses.
Have you ever argued with God when He tells you to do something? Today I did, and I didn’t win.
As the Lord was revealing these things to me, I knew what was coming next, and I didn’t want to do it. The praise team was on their last song and Pastor Moses had already gone up on the stage to begin his message. That was my excuse… it wasn’t a convenient time for me to share what the Lord wanted me to share. As I stood there going back and forth with God of all the reasons I shouldn’t go up to the front and share, my heart began to race, my stomach seemed like it was doing flips, and I was getting really hot.
I didn’t want to interrupt.
As I took the first step out of the church pew, I knew the Lord was directing my feet, because there was no way I was moving them on my own.
But I trusted Him.
I leaned over to Pastor Moses and told Him I wanted to do something. Handing the microphone to me, he stepped aside and then it happened.
“I believe the Spirit of the Lord is in this place. He is telling me that there are some people here with chains on their life that he doesn’t want you taking into the next year.”
As I began to share what the Lord was telling me, I invited those who had chains to come forward. To publicly confess the things that kept them from the Lord and to let the Him break the chains. To come to the front and begin walking in the new life that He has for them.
I feared that no one would come.
But they came.
One by one, they came down.
Some came for themselves, others on behalf of their family or someone that they love.
Today, as we prayed for those at the altar, people were set free.
New life was given.
Strongholds were torn down.
The enemy was defeated.
Chains were broken.
It started with an interruption
If you find yourself reading this today with chains on your life that you need to be set free from, Jesus wants to set you free.
Intercede– the latin meaning is to “go between”
In Romans, it says that Jesus is constantly interceding on our behalf. In other words, He goes between us and whatever is attacking us and fights for us.
There is no hold on your life that cannot be defeated by Jesus Christ. Invite Him into your battle.
