I have never done a logistics blog on here, but I figured since I am now in one of the two longest countries on my route, I would update you faithful followers on what the heck I will be doing here for three months.
As you know, we had a wild experience actually getting here (shameless plug= if you didn’t hear about my travel day, check out my blog titled ‘And though it all, He is G O O D.) and now that we are here, we have had some training and briefing on what our purpose is here.
Here’s how these next three months will look:
Housing:
These next three months will be spent at the Adventures base in Parramos, Guatemala. Parramos is 25 minutes (on a good day) away from Antigua and is also sandwiched between the Parramos Main Square and Chimaltenago.
The base is a beautiful, new building that has two HUGE fields for us to run around in. Its surrounded by mountains and is just enough outside of town to make us feel peaceful but not out-of-touch. The most animated clouds I have ever seen in my life appear in the sky almost every day.
Every team has their own room with their own bathroom. Let me repeat… OUR OWN BATHROOM! Thanks God for that blessing! Since team Hope is so small, we all also get our own bottom bunks. Praaaiiiisssseeeee.
Staff:
The Adventures Guatemala base is equipped with some of the best staff that are here to disciple us and equip us to raise up the bride of Christ in Guatemala. They desire to partner with church’s and raise up missionaries in the church to go out to other Nations.
They invest in us through working with us somedays at ministry, doing “bible deep dives” certain mornings, and worshipping with us. They have befriended us and are partnering with us to continue doing the work they have started here.
Ministry:
MONDAY// On Mondays we work at the Senior Home in Parramos. We color with them, talk with them, do physical therapy with them and just get to love on them from 10am-4pm. They are all a hoot-and-a-half and they love to laugh with/at us. I am excited to see what God is going to do there as we continue to invest in getting to know them and love them.
TUESDAY// A normal Tuesday would look like teaching English in the morning and doing makeup in the park in the afternoon in Parramos. Since school is on vacation right now, we are also partnered with a small village up the road from us called Los Encinos. When we would be teaching English, until January we are doing ATL in the village. That looks a lot like house visits, scheduled street soccer matches, and just really whatever the Lord asks us to do. ATL is something that is realllly unfamiliar and uncomfortable for me, and I am really excited to press more into that these next three months.
WEDNESDAY// We do ATL in the morning again in Los Encinos. In the afternoon, we work with the church in Parramos and do house visits in Parramos/ hand out church invitations. Then, we come home, eat dinner and head back out to go to the Church service and serve in the kid’s ministry.
THURSDAYS// Thursdays are Activation days from the Adventures staff. We learn a thing from the staff and then have the opportunity to go out and do the things. This past week, we were able to learn about our identity in Christ and how to practice hearing the voice of God. Then, we went out into Parrmamos and went to work! We asked God for direction and he provided, then we faithfully followed. We had some good conversations and made a few new friends.
FRIDAYS// Morning ATL in Los Encinos and then English classes which are to be determined.
My team has a pretty varied schedule and every day really has the opportunity to be completely different. I am so excited to see how God is going to move throughout these next three months. He has so much in store for our squad here in Guatemala.
Guatemala is not an unfamiliar place for me. I fell in love with the culture, people, and beauty of this country when I was 16 years old. Four years later, Guatemala still holds the biggest spot in my heart and it’s no coincidence God brought me back to be with His people for three months.
GAP V and Blog followers,
Welcome to G U A T E M A L A!
